EBO Diploma Examination
Eligibility to Sit and Examination Fee
December 9, 2008
Anyone who is a certified Specialist in Ophthalmology from a country of the European Union, Norway, or Switzerland is eligible to sit the EBOD Examination. Eligibility must be confirmed by the corresponding National Delegates of the European Board in the Application Form. If your country has an Associated Member in the Board, he or she can act as your National Delegate.

It is also possible to sit the examination during the last year of residency, upon approval by the Program Chair and one of the two National Delegates of your country. In such a case, the Diploma will be handed out by the National Delegate after the Candidate has subsequently passed also his or her National Specialist Examination, if applicable, and provided a certified copy of a document confirming national registration as a specialist.

As Switzerland has replaced her own National Specialist Examination by the EBOD Examination, registration of Swiss residents is through the Swiss Society of Ophthalmology.

French residents are encouraged to register through Société Française d'Ophtalmologie.
