Please download and print the EBO Logbook and Portfolio (PDF File). The file should be printed double sided, and then stampled together, to get the booklet.
The EBO Logbook and Portfolio intends to help the ophthalmology resident to plan and organise his or her specialisation and training.
- The Logbook provides a means of keeping track how the Resident acquires the necessary skills and knowledge.
- The Portfolio provides a tool for professional development.
A summary of the various sections is as follows:
- Supervisors and Personal Tutors. A supervisor is nominated to overview each training period, who is responsible for providing the Resident with necessary skills and tuition during each period. The EBO recommends that each Resident should also have a Personal Tutor who will act as a guide during the entire residency.
- Factual, Practical and Surgical Goals of the Residency. This section lists specific aims of the residency. When the resident judges that he or she has mastered a particular aim, this will be entered in the logbook. The goals that have been reached will also be discussed with the Supervisor during evaluation sessions (see below).
- Meetings, Courses and Workshops. Attendance to theoretic training, national and international courses and workshops is entered as required in individual countries.
- Personal Curriculum Planning. This section is filled in by the Resident together with the Program Chair. The aim is to draft a concrete study plan, which is as broad as possible, and at the same time based on the experience and specific goals of the resident in training. The plan can
and should be modified during the residency, so that it will reflect any changes that may have taken place as regards the goals of the Resident.
- Evaluation of Training and the Trainee. The EBO recommends that the Supervisor, Personal Tutor or another faculty member will check that evaluation sessions are regularly be completed after each study period. Suggestions about bilateral evaluation and sample forms are provided.
