The 2019 FEBOS Glaucoma Subspecialty Exam 

Vision
The subspecialty examination in Glaucoma is intended to provide formal recognition of subspecialty training and expertise in the field of Glaucoma. Ultimately it will help to harmonize and improve glaucoma care across Europe.

Purpose
To have a structure within which ophthalmologists who specialise in Glaucoma have their skills and expertise assessed, acknowledged and certified
To define the knowledge that the specialist in Glaucoma holds
To be recognised as a quality examination and consequent qualification for Glaucoma specialists
To encourage standardised training/teaching and standardised glaucoma care across Europe

Background
The European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO), in collaboration with the European Glaucoma Society (EGS), organizes an annual subspecialty exam in glaucoma with the aim to formally recognizing subspecialty training and expertise in that field. By introducing exam criteria and standards, the EBO-EGS wish to harmonize and improve glaucoma training across Europe.

Means
Specialists in Ophthalmology with particular interest and experience in glaucoma have the opportunity to have their knowledge and expertise tested and officially acknowledged by sitting the EBO-EGS Glaucoma Subspecialty Exam. Successful candidates will be awarded a diploma: the Fellow of the EBO Subspecialty Glaucoma Diploma (FEBOS-glaucoma diploma). This diploma is recognized as a proof of advanced knowledge and competence in this field.

• August 2019 Circulation of articles for viva-voce examination & candidate personal schedules
• 13th September 2019 FEBOS Glaucoma MCQ exam (Afternoon)
• 14th September 2019 FEBOS Glaucoma Viva-voce exam (Morning)

Advanced (GLAUCOMA) Exam – Fee: €850

The European Board of Ophthalmology (EBO), in collaboration with the EGS, wishes to increase the knowledge for general ophthalmology as well as subspecialty and contribute to raising the standards of glaucoma care in Europe.

The EBO Glaucoma Subspecialty Exam, organised by the EGS in collaboration with the EBO, is the opportunity for ophthalmologists with particular interest in glaucoma to have their knowledge and expertise certified.

Successful candidates will be awarded a diploma: the Fellow of the EBO Subspecialty Glaucoma Diploma (FEBOS-glaucoma diploma). This diploma is recognized as a proof of advanced knowledge and competence in this field.

The EBO and the EGS invite all interested ophthalmologists who have completed an ophthalmology residency program in a country member of the UEMS and a proper glaucoma fellowship training according to the requirements (see documents) to apply for the EBO Glaucoma Subspecialty Exam.

The requirements set by the EGS for the FEBOS–glaucoma exam are published on the website www.eugs.org.

The FEBOS – Glaucoma exam is a yearly one-day exam consisting of a written and oral part.

Candidates wishing to apply for the exam need to provide following documents:  (Documents attached to confirmation email sent after application)

• Application forms
• Recommendation letter filled in by the main trainer
• Log book
• Invoice
• Proof of payment
